Quote and a video

The quote...

"Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground.  They want rain without thunder and lightning.  They want the ocean without the awful roar of its waters.  This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one;  or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle!  Power concedes nothing without a demand.  It never did, and it never will.  Find out just what people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them;  and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.  The limit of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress." (emphasis mine)

The video...  three minutes from Larken Rose.  Larken has a very interesting history, has a unique but eminently worthwhile perspective on matters political, and has the distinction of being the person with whom my dad agreed the most philosophically.  While his viewpoints are unpopular with some, they merit consideration, and upon close reflection, are actually quite valid.

During the last year of his life, my dad bought a case of one of Larken's books, The Iron Web, to give to family & friends, and convinced me to read it.  That was more than ten years ago, but I was impressed when I read it.

As for Larken's spiritual beliefs, I can't speak for the man.  Because of that, I put him in the same category with Ayn Rand (who was an atheist), in that I share the same/similar views politically & ideologically, but not spiritually*.

*He likely doesn't share my support of President Trump, which is based on what I believe to be prophecy being fulfilled.  References to authoritarianism, therefore, I associate with governors of many of the states, and with those who are advising him and usurping their power & authority, exploiting the circumstances.
